Now a days it’s hard to stumble across new music you might really like. Let’s face it, the radio is not a reliable source anymore and neither is MTV. It’s all online and to find music you like online you must do extensive digging. Listening to tons of crappy music before you come across something you actually like. Needless to say, you have to invest some quality time which we don’t always have due to pending responsibilities.

I’ve concocted a little list of some new and interesting songs/bands that you must check out with the help of my trusty Marie Claire Magazine which hardly ever let’s me down.

• 1. “The Look” by Metronomy.

It’s new wave pop. An organ sets the romantic tune to this minimal, but extremely catchy riff, if you like “mellow,” you’re going to love this song!

• 2. “ELS,” by Rene Lopez.

This is not my cup of tea, but it might be yours if you enjoy “Electric Latin Soul.” It’s undeniably new and refreshing. It’s somewhat of an update of urban island rhythms. There’s congas going on tagged along with club beats. This is definitely a tune for those who enjoy dancing.

• 3. “My Mistakes,” by Elenanor Friedberger.

Elenanor Friedberge was a former member of the duo the “Fiery Furnaces, ” which was pretty good. But I guess the sister half decided to go solo. Elenanor Friedberge has an amazing voice which is well demonstrated in this song as goes from warm sounding to anxious while still remaining graceful.

• 4. “Que Que,” by Dillon Francis and Diplo featuring Maluca.

It’s a new style of dance music called “Moombathon.” It;s the next big thing to hit clubs that will make you shake that booty. It’s a mixture of reggae rhythms and weapons grade bass.

• 5. “Excuse,” by The Ettes.

This is a a feral fuzzy rock tune with snarling vocals. This trio is packing with swagger.

• 6. “Always Like the Sun,” by Release The Sunbird.

This is a song by Zach Rouge the lead singer from “The Rough Waves.” Release The Sunbird is his solo project. This song is an acoustic, wistful ballad that will sweep you off your feet.

So here’s an assortment of songs from different artists and genres. There should be something for everyone. From the rocker to the awesome female vocalist to some great, new dance music. Hope you can find an artist/new music you like from this little compilation.
